Study Abroad with Yummy Jobs

Are you interested in kick-starting your Hospitality career by obtaining one of the most highly respected qualifications of its kind? Keen to meet new people from more than 70 different cultures and experience living in one of the most beautiful countries in the world?

Well, if so, let Yummy Jobs take you on a ride through the world of Swiss hospitality. We have partnered with one of the best hotel management schools in the world namely SEG and its four member schools: IHTTI, SHMS Caux, SHMS Leysin and HIM.

The option to study at any of these locations is open to you whether you are considering your next move after GCSE's, A Levels or to top up your current degree with a PGD or a Master’s degree. So, what can the four schools offer you? It’s all about the Swiss Hospitality Touch.

SEG’s purpose is to develop the future leaders
of the hospitality industry by:

1. Living the Swiss hospitality Touch
2. Developing the Swiss Hospitality Touch
3. And finally mastering the Swiss Hospitality Touch.

SEG’s intensive curriculum, together with extended terms, enables them to offer these highly-recognised Swiss, British and American Bachelor awards in only 4 academic terms (plus 2 internships) resulting in a considerable cost saving as well as an earlier start to a student’s career. This is a unique feature of the SEG schools’ curriculum.

The SHMS and IHTTI schools are partnered with the University of Derby in the UK and HIM school is partnered with Northwood in the USA. This means that the programmes capture the best of traditional Swiss hotel management training with UK university thinking. In fact, SEG students on the main programme graduate with up to three international well-recognised qualifications from Switzerland, the USA and the UK.

The programmes are developed and taught by highly-experienced international hotel professionals as well as highly distinguished professors from business and general education fields. Their aim is to:

  • Enhance students’ intellectual attributes so that they can continue to learn independently throughout their career;
  • Build upon management competencies so that they can manage human and non-human resources effectively;
  • Practice operational skills so that they can actually do the work their subordinates do;
  • Perfect their overall professionalism so that they have the truly polished mark of a Swiss-trained hotel manager.
  • Be part of a network of hospitality professionals made up of the Alumni, spread all over the globe.
  • Provide 'five star' quality of IT and theory classrooms which meet world-class standards.
  • Assist them with finding their ideal positions during the practical training periods

This is not the case with hotel management schools. Often hospitality management degrees are offered at the larger universities. These programs generally lack the professional component and practical training. In other countries one can find excellent hotel schools preparing students to become chefs, headwaiters and rooms division managers. The Swiss difference means that students learn the essential management and academic side as well as the practical.

The four Schools:

IHTTI
is one of the most established hotel management schools in Switzerland with a long and proud history and it has alumni working in key positions all over the world. Located in the centre of the historic university city of Neuchatel, between Lake Neuchatel and the Jura mountains, IHTTI has a university partner in the UK, the University of Derby, which was recently ranked by the Guardian Newspaper as being in the top five British Universities for Hospitality and Tourism.

SHMS Caux and Leysin are Switzerland’s largest English speaking Hotel Management Schools with an excellent reputation around the globe. A qualification from SHMS opens doors to leading positions in the hospitality industry, anywhere in the world. The “Caux-Palace” is nestled in the mountains overlooking both Montreux and Lake Geneva, was the largest, most impressive and exclusive establishment of the day. Since 2004, SHMS has a second campus in the beautiful mountain village of Leysin - offering state of the art learning and leisure facilities, outstanding accommodation for almost 600 students, and an extended range of excellent educational programmes.

HIM owns and operates two spectacular campuses in the city centre of Montreux: “Hotel Miramonte” and “Hotel Europe” which have been completely renovated and converted to conform to the requirements of an educational institute of the highest quality standards. They offer excellent state-of-the-art facilities combined with a magnificent view of Lake Geneva and the French Alps.
